Actor JP Reddy, also known as JP, is preparing to share a story that he believes will resonate with anyone who has moved from a village to a city in search of better education. The movie, Karki, signifies the debut of Tamil director Pavitran in Kannada cinema. In anticipation of the upcoming release, JP shares, “This film delves into important themes such as caste dynamics and the fundamental right to education.” Despite facing challenges in embodying his character, JP recounts, “When director Pavitran first shared the story with me, I was unsure if I could realistically portray the role. Being a city dweller, transitioning into the role of a local boy felt like a daunting endeavor. I underwent a physical transformation by shedding 6 kilos through dieting and refraining from exercise. Throughout the filming process, I wore only four shirts purchased from Gurjari market in Shivajinagar. My appearance and mannerisms had to undergo significant changes, as is customary for actors. We must immerse ourselves in the characters we portray; otherwise, attempting acting would be futile. One cannot authentically portray a character without fully embracing their identity,” JP elaborates.
